The Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) tested the CSR Edmonds EP900 Hybrid Rooftop Ventilator in 2016 and that resulted in the industry immediately recognizing a new classification “Hybrid Rooftop Ventilator”.
Edmonds had earlier invented the world’s highest performance gravity rooftop ventilator, their Hurricane, and later decided to add a motor to create the first hybrid.
The Hurricane is the most efficient free air gravity rooftop ventilator due to its unique use of vertical turbine blades. Air is able to flow up and out with almost no interference and the flow of the air actually causes the turbine to rotate, thus making the flow even easier. On top of that, any breeze adds to the rotation thus creating even more flow.
